The first English settler was William Pynchon. Not only did he settle first on East Windsor he found Springfield, Massachusetts. In 1636 he made himself a warehouse and now that section of town is called Warehouse Point. East Windsor citizens had an uneasy relationship with the Podunk tribe who inhabited the area.

c. The East Windsor Historical Society is headquartered in the brick East Windsor Academy, also known as the Scantic Academy (pdf), which was built in 1817 by the Academy Company, a group of stockholders. Today it is used as a museum.
